Melissa and Savannah Whiting, Nominated by Murfreesboro Volunteers
Melissa and Savannah have volunteered with Murfreesboro Volunteers for just over 2 years. Together they have cooked and served meals at The Journey Home, helped wrap presents for A Soldier’s Child Foundation, participated in Habitat for Humanities’ Cookin’ to Build and sorted food boxes for our neighbors in need with Feed America First. Organizers say that 11-year old Savannah’s smile is infectious and she has a kind heart. The volunteering doesn’t stop when Savannah is in school though. Her mom Melissa volunteers at Greenhouse Ministries’ mobile food pantry, helps serve our seniors at St Claire Street Senior Center, entertained residents at a carnival at Northside Center for people with Alzheimer’s and dementia and volunteered with A Soldier’s Child for their 4 on the 4th fundraiser. Melissa’s dedication to helping others in our community and teaching her children the importance of giving back is inspiring. Melissa and Savannah are invaluable members of Murfreesboro Volunteers and organizers are proud to serve with them. Melissa and Savannah will receive a certificate from Volunteer Rutherford and a $25 Amazon Gift Card courtesy of Guaranty Trust.
