Suzan Slayden, Nominated by Portico
Suzan has volunteered faithfully each week with Portico for more than 15 years. She listens to the stories of young women as they come in to the find out whether or not they are pregnant. She sits with them as they have their free ultrasounds done and see their baby for the first time. She encourages them, loves them and offers them hope. She also works with the mothers and fathers who come in for their parenting program as they go through lessons to learn how to be better parents and individuals. She shops with them as they get free clothes, diapers etc. for their baby in their boutique. Suzan also lead a Bible study group for their clients for a couple of years. Suzan has recently started volunteering on their Mobile Unit where she does many of these same things for the clients who come on board the unit as well. She is so dedicated and truly loves serving the women and men at Portico. Suzan will receive a certificate from Volunteer Rutherford and a $25 Amazon Gift Card courtesy of Guaranty Trust.
