Murfreesboro, TN, February 15, 2016— With the new year, many middle Tennesseans have personal goals around weight loss and exercise. Murfreesboro Medical Clinic’s (MMC) Weight Loss and Wellness office is partnering with the Special Kids Race to provide a healthy activity and a fun exercise challenge.
Jessica Ives is an exercise consultant with MMC’s Weight Loss and Wellness and knows that participating in a 5K for the first time can be intimidating. “Keep moving and keep your eyes on the prize of the finish line,” said Ives. “Every step, no matter what the speed, will get you one step closer.”

Weight Loss and Wellness has helped a patient named Andrew to reach his exercise and health goals. “My wife and I started this adventure together and worked well with the MMC team to have the accountability and guidance to achieve our goals,” said Andrew. ” I have also been able to reduce my run/walk time by over 4.5 minutes per mile and achieve 5K and 10K race times I haven’t seen in 20 years.”
Andrew is one of three thousand participants who will be running or walking the Special Kids Race on Saturday, March 19. The race offers 15K, 5K, and 1 Mile distances to provide exercise challenges for participants at varying levels of fitness. Registration is open for the 5th annual event presented by MMC at specialkidsrace.org.
MMC’s Weight Loss and Wellness medically supervised program focuses on individualized nutrition, exercise, and supportive counseling to help individuals from all walks of life achieve and maintain their health needs and goals.
