Phil Barnett was recently honored at the Governor’s Tennessee Stars Awards and was recognized as Rutherford County’s 2016 Volunteer of the Year.
Phil has a true servant’s heart. After serving 31 years in the US Navy Phil began working in the healthcare industry in Rutherford County. Upon his official retirement, Phil has dedicated himself to serving the nonprofit sector, leaving his mark on so many agencies across Rutherford County. Phil currently does work with agencies such as the Tennessee Fisher House Foundation, Murfreesboro Breakfast Rotary, Heart of Tennessee Red Cross Chapter, Doors of Hope, ETHOS Youth Ensembles, Interfaith Dental Clinic, President’s Community Engagement Council at MTSU, Alive Hospice, Tennessee Veterans Home, Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office/Senior Citizens Awareness Network, Veteran’s Drug Court, Center for the Arts, Murfreesboro Symphony Orchestra, Beesley Animal Foundation and Howard’s Hope. His passion for serving others is felt far and wide across Rutherford County and the community is a better place to live because of the work he does.
