Murfreesboro Lions Club

The Murfreesboro Lions Club is celebrating 85 years (charter, June 6, 1933) of humanitarian service to Murfreesboro, TN. The Club has always been interested in the needs of the community. In early years they purchased milk for school children, purchased new street signs, purchased cigarettes for service men (a “no no” now) plus screening eyes and buying eyeglasses. Now high on the list is caring for needs of blind and vision impaired (whether it be eyeglasses and aides or surgery), eye screening of school children every year and those under six with a special program, buying hearing aids, supporting diabetes research, disaster relief, measles and river blindness eradication in foreign countries, support groups to make life easier and safer for blind and sight impaired plus special needs in our own community. Lions are needed for their service worldwide. Caring individuals are invited to join Lions at any time.

The Lions Club will receive a certificate from Volunteer Rutherford.  The VOW program is supported by Guaranty Trust Company.
