Morgan Zialcita, Nominated by Read to Succeed
Morgan Zialcita is from Knoxville, TN. She completed her Bachelors of Science Degree from Tennessee State University and her Masters of Science in Public Health from Meharry Medical College. After returning to Knoxville for a few years, Morgan moved back to middle Tennessee and began working as a Public Health Educator with the Rutherford County Health Department. There she was able to help start a new ESL site for Read to Succeed at the Smyrna Health Department location, where the need for more resources was high. What originally began as simply a partnership turned into Morgan expanding her role to become a ESL tutor. With no prior experience but a desire to see the site succeed, she has taught for 3 semesters. Morgan’s favorite part about being an ESL tutor was the relationships she built with her students and their families as well as seeing her students progress through the levels starting from her basic level class. Even though she has transferred to the Wilson County Health Department, she still remains close to the program and is always willing to be of help to the cause because of how important literacy is to health outcomes.
Morgan will receive a certificate from Volunteer Rutherford and a $25 Amazon Gift Card courtesy of Guaranty Home Mortgage Corporation.
