Joyce Wyma, Nominated by Nourish Food Bank
Nourish Food Bank staff say that Joyce came to them in their greatest time of need. They had just bought a new building and were in need of volunteers to help renovate the massive space. She helped them rip out glued-down carpet, strip tile, pull paneling, paint interior walls, remove debris and clean the building. No job was too big, and no job deterred her. She was always willing to help, and some days she was there as staff arrived and left when we did. She helped them keep the momentous job in front of them in perspective, providing words of encouragement. Staff say that there is no way their work would have been completed in the time it was without her help.
