Journeys in Community Living will host from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Jan. 22, 2016 its first ever ‘Careers in the New Year’ event at the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce, Third Floor Meeting Space.
This informational event will include presentations from a representative of Tennessee Works and Journeys in Community Living Vocational Director Lauren Meeker. The meeting’s focus will be on the many benefits of hiring people with intellectual and developmental disabilities at local businesses. These benefits include financial incentives for businesses, a high return on investment (ROI) for money spent on reasonable accommodations (about $10-$35 for each $1 spent), reduced costs due to lower rates of turnover and retraining in this population of workers, improved morale and productivity in the workplace, and much more!
There is no hiring commitment required on behalf of employers who attend the event, though there will be information available on each of the individuals served by Journeys who are currently seeking employment. The informational meeting will be catered by Chik-fil-A. Call Lauren Meeker, Vocational Services Director at Journeys in Community Living, at 615-890-4389 for more information.
