Deadline approaching for Special Kids Race

The Special Kids Race announced today that only a few days remain until late registration prices increase on January 16 for the charity event held in Murfreesboro.

The 5th Annual Special Kids Race presented by Murfreesboro Medical Clinic & Surgicenter (MMC) invites both runners and walkers to participate in the 15K, 5K, or 1 mile distances on Saturday, March 19. The early registration discount of $40 for the 15K and $35 for the 5K will expire on January 16 and increase by $5. Participants can register before the discount expires online at specialkidsrace.org.

The Special Kids Race is an annual event existing to support local nonprofit Special Kids Therapy and Nursing Center. The run has grown to be one of the largest races in Murfreesboro,  with 3,250 participants expected in this year’s event. Reenactors from the Stones River Battlefield will fire a cannon to give participants a memorable start for the third consecutive year. Runners and walkers will also be awarded finishing medals by children from Special Kids.

This year, businesses that wish to be involved have two options for supporting the event through sponsorship and the brand new corporate challenge. The new corporate challenge encourages businesses to pay for their employees’ registration and to commit to raising $250 or more. Prizes will be given to corporate challenge teams recognizing fundraising, the most spirit, the largest team, and the fastest team.
