More thanĀ $47,000 was raised for local nonprofit Special Kids in the organization’s 17th Annual Golf Classic presented by Nissan Thursday and Friday, May 5 and 6, at Indian Hills Golf Course in Murfreesboro.
The annual event hosted 51 teams with over 200 players participating to help children with special needs in middle Tennessee. The golf scramble held a two day tournament for the first time, allowing participants to play in afternoon hours both days. Golfers enjoyed lunch and snacks provided by Slick Pig BBQ, The Alley on Main, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Newk’s Eatery.
Winners for the Thursday tournament were the Cooke Realty Partners team with Greg Cooke, Dave Webber, Andy Holmes, and Brock Baker. The Kious, Rodgers, Barger, Holder & Kious, PLLC, team took the top title in the Friday tournament with team members Chris Holder, Ben Lewis, Pat Johnson, and John White.
Nissan presented the tournament for the sixth consecutive year with Tri-Star Title & Escrow and Calsonic Kansei North America stepping in as the Albatross sponsors. Eagle sponsors included Atco, Middle Tennessee Electric Customers Care, EchoPower Engineering, Aetna, Yates Services, and SEC, Inc. Special Kids is a Christian therapy and nursing center for children with special needs. The Murfreesboro-based ministry started with one child in 1998 and has grown to serve over 3,100 children from 18 counties in middle Tennessee.
