Volunteers sought to drive Cancer patients

Donate your passenger seat to save a life.

The American Cancer Society is needing volunteers in Rutherford County to drive cancer patients with limited or no transportation to cancer treatments to area hospitals with the Road To Recovery program.
The volunteer driving opportunity is flexible; you select the rides that meet your availability using a dedicated website. You determine how far you’d like to drive and how often, preferably 1-3 times per month.  Most ride needs are between 7 am – 6 pm on weekdays. (Volunteers don’t drive all day, but appointments are generally between 8-5.)
Drivers must be between the ages of 18 and 84 with

  • Good driving record
  • Schedule availability between Mon-Fri, 7 am – 6 pm
  • Current, valid driver’s license
  • Access to a safe and reliable vehicle
  • Proof of adequate automobile insurance
  • Complete American Cancer Society online training courses, background and motor vehicle checks
  • Abide by privacy and confidentiality policies
  • Preferably can drive at least 1-2 times per month
