Volunteer gardeners, teachers, photographer needed

Lutheran Services of Tennessee is seeking the following:

Five Mentors needed: April – Sept.

Garden Mentor – A garden mentor will be partnered with 2-4 gardeners throughout the growing season. Ideally, the mentor will help during planting day to help gardeners determine the best planting practices. The mentor will be in contact with the gardener throughout the growing season to answer questions, nurture relationships and offer support. Contact can be made via phone call, text or email 2-3 times during the growing season.The mentor will be asked to visit the physical location at least twice – once approximately three weeks after planting and mid-season – these visits usually take 2 hours.

Teachers:

Instructor for gardener meetings twice a year on location – talk about simple garden techniques to help new gardeners learn how to grow their own food.

Plant & Soil Day Volunteers: April 23rd and April 30th

20-25 volunteers needed to add soil, distribute supplies, build new garden beds.

Trucks: New gardens: 10 yards of soil for new gardens – 20 new gardens (1 yard of soil = 2 gardens).

2-3 yards of soil for the 10 existing gardens (1 yard = 4 gardens).

1 Photographer needed:

Photographer – Take pictures and/or video of planting day. Additional photos during the growing season.
