Take a Veteran fishing event seeks assistance

The first TAKE A VETERAN FISHING TOURNAMENT is to be held Sept. 17th, at Fate Sanders Marina.

The concept is simple, to take as many veterans as they can who wish to go fishing, but don’t have their own boat. They are doing this to thank them for their service to our great nation, and to raise public awareness of P.T.S.D., which is taking the lives of as many as 20 veterans per day. Fishing has been demonstrated to be of therapeutic relief.

Their 501c3 nonprofit is relatively new, and they need several things, to include:
• Veterans to take fishing • Fishermen with boats
• Volunteers • Donations
• Sponsors: They are offering a truck wrap for 6 sponsors for a donation of $250.00,or have your company name on the t shirts which will be given to veterans for $150.00

They encourage the community to join them in their day of celebration with our veterans. These people are our brothers, sisters, husbands, wives, fathers, mothers, friends or maybe even co-workers.

Their current event has no monetary prizes since the event is free, but they do have some nice door prizes, and will be serving Bar BQ, Pizza and possibly grilled chicken.

There will be awards, trophies and a color guard with 21 gun salute.
Here’s your chance to show them your support.

The tournament flyer is on their website, and may be reproduced at will.

To enter the tournament and other information is on our website at www.veteransportsmen.com.
