Predators Foundation and Dollar General Support Read To Succeed

Read To Succeed improves lives through reading and two local organizations with a literacy focus are helping to make that possible.

On May 12 at the Nashville Public Library, the Dollar General Literacy Foundation presented a $10,000 grant to Carolynn Kobiske for Adult Literacy Programs and a $15,000 grant for Family Literacy Programs to Lisa Mitchell, standing in for Family Literacy Coordinator, Tammy Howell. Adult Literacy Coordinator, Carolynn Kobiske, and Family Literacy Coordinator, Tammy Howell, both feel that the financial support from The Dollar General Foundation for adult literacy and family literacy programs help tremendously to sustain the programs and serve additional children and adults. “Read To Succeed could not train volunteers for tutoring or teaching ESL classes, purchase the materials and books needed, or provide free family literacy programs without the money given to us through Dollar General.”

The Nashville Predators Foundation also presented a $5,000 grant to Executive Director for Read To Succeed, Lisa Mitchell, and Tammy Howell for Family Literacy Programs on May 5 during a ceremony celebrating The Big Payback at Bridgestone Arena.

Family Literacy Coordinator, Tammy Howell, stated “The Nashville Predators Foundation grant will provide new books and meals for several family literacy nights in Rutherford County during the upcoming school year.  Read To Succeed can only provide these family-oriented programs with this type of monetary assistance and the volunteerism of our community.  Strong literacy skills at an early age are key to our students staying in school and becoming employable adults.  We appreciate the Predators Foundation support and generosity!”

Read To Succeed programs and services are at an all-time high and volunteers are needed to continue this growth.  To get involved, please call 615/738-READ or email maliagrubbs@readtosucceed.org.
