Dr. Walter Chitwood and Dr. Andrew Flipse of Implant and General Dentistry of Middle Tennessee are both active volunteers with Interfaith Dental Clinic. Their willingness to serve comes from different places. Dr. Flipse tells us, “as a struggling young college student I realized how expensive dental care can be for those with modest financial means, and I vowed to do something to improve that. Interfaith gives me the outlet to fulfill that promise.” Dr. Chitwood’s experience comes from placing implants for a deserving woman in her early 20’s. “She had spent many years with no teeth at all and her implants made her feel like she had a second chance at life – I have seen her since then and she has really blossomed. She is why I continue to volunteer, advocate and contribute to Interfaith,” says Chitwood. Both dentists tell us it’s a wonderful volunteer experience. “When you volunteer, they have a state-of-the-art facility and the staff is wonderful and kind – it makes for the best experience to give back,” Chitwood tells us. And Dr. Flipse agrees! “Interfaith has flexible shifts and it’s always a pleasure to work with the folks in Murfreesboro. The volunteer experience is always deeply rewarding to me.” The doctors will receive a certificate from Volunteer Rutherford and a $25 gift card courtesy of Guaranty Trust.
