The Rutherford County Emergency Food Bank helps to provide emergency food needs to those residents of Murfreesboro and surrounding cities.
The Rutherford County Emergency Food Bank was established in 1979 to serve the emergency food needs of the residents of Murfreesboro and surrounding cities in Rutherford County with the exception of Smyrna and LaVergne (they have their own food bank).
Opportunities to serve ON SITE: They need assistance in packing bags of food to be given out to families and help picking up food from resources (food drives conducted by businesses, etc.).
Opportunities to serve OFF SITE: N/A
Donation Needs: They take perishable and non-perishable food items. If conducting a drive for perishable items, contact would be needed with the food bank to ensure they have proper space to refrigerate items.
Event Volunteers: They utilize volunteers during the postal food drive every May. They are always looking for additional opportunities for fundraising or conducting food drives.
How to volunteer: Contact the coordinator or Emma Espy at the RCEFB.
